Curriculum vitae

1983 - 1989: Scientific education in Chemistry at the University of Regensburg and the Technical University Munich.

1989 - 1990: Diploma thesis in preparative Organic Chemistry with Prof. A. Bacher at the Institute for Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, Technical University Munich.

1990 - 1991: Civil service at the Gesellschaft für Strahlen- und Umweltforschung, Munich, Neuherberg (Society for Radiation and Environment Research, now: National Research Center for Environment and Health ). Design of a computerprogram to aid in assessment of environmental hazards.

1991 - 1995: PhD thesis on "Purification and crystallisation of GTP cyclohydrolase I from Escherichia coli. Crystal packing analysis based on shadowed and decorated protein crystal surfaces" with Prof. A. Bacher at the Institute for Organic Chemistry and Biochemistry, Technical University Munich, Germany. 1995: Promotion Dr. rer. nat., Technical University Munich (summa cum laude)

1996 - 1998: Postdoctoral researcher at the Center for Structural Biochemistry, NOVUM Research Park, Karolinska Institutet, Stockholm with Prof. R. Ladenstein. Individual Marie Curie Fellowship granted by the European Commission. A long term fellowship offered by the EMBL was waived.

1998 - 2003: Research assistant at Södertörns Högskola, responsible for the organisation of the Advanced Course in Structural Biochemistry and lecturing in X-ray crystallography. Staff member of the X-ray unit of the Center for Structural Biochemistry, Dept. of Biosciences, Karolinska Institutet.

2003 - 2004: Lecturer at Södertörns Högskola

2004 - 2006: senior scientist, Karolinska Institutet, Center for Structural Biochemistry, X-ray Unit.

2006: senior scientist, Karolinska Institutet, Center for Structural Virology.

since 2008: scientific assistant with Prof. A. Skerra, Lehrstuhl für Biologische Chemie, TU München
